Real or AI? A quiz for kids
Ten quick questions for children aged 7 and up, best played with a grown-up. There are no photos to squint at: this quiz practises the habits that still work when a fake looks perfect.
Which is a clue that a picture might be AI-made?
How to play
Read each question aloud and let your child answer first. After every answer, Bip explains why. The whole quiz takes about five minutes.
What the quiz teaches
- Clues in pictures. Hands, writing and backgrounds that do not look right.
- Clues are not proof. A picture with no clues can still be AI-made.
- The source matters most. Who shared it, and do trusted places show the same thing?
- Voices can be copied. A strange request is checked another way.
- Pause before sharing. If it looks shocking, check first.
After the quiz
Go back over any question that was missed and ask "how would we check that?". For more, read how kids can spot AI images and deepfakes, and agree a few family rules from AI safety rules every kid should know.
Questions parents ask
What age is this quiz for?
From about 7 with a grown-up reading along, and from 9 on their own.
Why are there no real photos in the quiz?
Because spotting visual mistakes works less well every year. The habits in this quiz, such as checking the source and pausing before sharing, keep working even when a fake looks perfect.
Can adults always tell AI images from real ones?
No. Good AI pictures fool adults too, which is why checking where a picture came from matters more than looking closely.
